The YEA Elaborates On The National Youth Employment Agenda

It is the duty of every government to layout Strategic policies to enhance the standard of living of every citizen.

As part of President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo ”“ Addo’s initiative to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth in Ghana, the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) signed series of Agreements with various Governmental bodies in 2017 to recruit a total of about 46, 300 youth within the first quarter of 2018.

In the quest to follow up on this specific initiative of the ruling government, Naya’s column via asabeaowusu.com called on the Public Relations Officer of the YEA, Mr. Awal Mohammed to elaborate more on the development of this agenda.

He said, “The YEA signed a total of seven (7) MOU’s in 2017 with the sole aim of reducing the rate of unemployment in the country. We agreed with the Ministry of Agriculture to recruit 1,200 people into their sector to support the planting of food and jobs initiative; and also the Forestry Commission of Ghana to recruit a total of 15, 000 people. Others were the Ghana Post (100 people), Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication and the Local Government ministry (5,000 people), Sports sector (10,000) and Finally the Ghana Police service (15,000 people).”

According to Mr. Awal, a total of 9,000 people have already been recruited into the Ghana police service leaving about 6,000 slots to be filled. The YEA however, is waiting on the Forestry Commission to give a signal for the manifestation of their 2017 Agreement.
